Let Them Treat You on Valentine’s Day

Kids of all ages love to cook. Many start by learning how to make a simple breakfast. Let the kids make breakfast on Valentine’s Day. With your help and a few other items they can give you the best Valentine’s Day gift you could ever want.

It’s pretty easy to come up with ideas for a Valentine’s Day breakfast. One item you must have is cookie cutters. They can be used to make many different types of heart shaped food.

If your children are little and toast is all they can make, try teaching them how to use the cookie cutters to cut out the middle of a piece of toast into a heart. Butter the toast first to make it easier for them. Then cut the heart out of the middle of the toast. They can use strawberry jelly or even a little cinnamon sugar with a cinnamon heart candy to decorate their cuisine.

Older children can use the cookie cutters to make heart shaped pancakes or omelets. Making a pancake is pretty easy. Just be sure you are using metal cookie cutters and not plastic ones. Use a griddle or skillet and place the cookie cutters on the pan. Pour the pancake batter into the cookie cutter. Once the batter has set, remove the cookie cutter, flip the pancake and finish cooking. If you have small cookie cutters they can make hearts of butter to place on the pancake and cover with strawberry syrup before serving it to you or your spouse.

Omelets are easy too. Again you will need cookie cutters. Place half of the egg mixture into one cutter and the other half into a second cutter. When the egg has set remove the cutters. Place the ingredients on top of one side and cover with the other egg. Finish cooking until the eggs are done.

It’s pretty easy for children to cook once they have the hang of it. Give them all the information and knowledge on how and you just might get a breakfast in bed for your Valentine’s Day surprise this year.
