Little Old Man or Old Lady Costumes

Run out of ideas for your children’s Halloween costumes? Well the good thing about Halloween is you can dress up as anything. This year why not try dressing your little one as an Old Man or an Old Lady. It’s easy as pie to do and doesn’t take a lot of your hard earned money. So why not give it try? Here are some ideas to make it even easier for you.

What You’ll Need

Little Old Man

* Dark dress pants
* Dark dress shirt
* Suspenders
* Dark vest
* Suite jacket
* Old pair of shoes
* Cane
* Old Hat

Little Old Lady

* House dress, cut off just below their knees
* Heavy stockings
* Shoes
* Old Pocketbook
* Pair of old glasses
* Flour to gray their hair

Instructions

Be sure the pants are pulled up high for the effect and so your little guy doesn’t trip. An old pair of winged tipped shoes about twice their size will work for shoes. Get them big enough that they can wear their own shoes inside them. A cane and an old hat will top off the clothes.

Be sure to roll the stockings down to just at the knee. The pocket book should have a very short handle to give the effect and with the glasses your little old lady will appear before your eyes.

To make their hair gray dust it with flour. Be careful to cover their eyes when doing this so the flour doesn’t get in them. Don’t coat the hair too much. You want just enough to give a light gray look.

Last but not least, you can give your little old lady a shopping cart to push around. You can also give your little old man a newspaper to carry under his arm or if you have an old pocket watch place it in their shirt or suit coat pocket. This will top off their costume. What fun you can have if you use your imagination and some flee market items. Happy Halloween.
