This is the perfect cake for your circus themed party! It is easy and fun to make.

What You’ll Need

Cake Mix
Icing
Parchment or waxed paper
cake plate
Optional: Cookie cutters

Directions

1. Bake a large sheet cake that is about half an inch thick. Make sure that you use parchment paper to keep the cake from sticking to the pan.

2. Cut a large circle shape out of a piece of parchment or waxed paper.

3. When the cake is cooled use the circle stencil and a sharp knife to cut a circular piece of cake from the center of the sheet cake. Place the cake on a large cake plate.

4. Cover the cake with vanilla icing. To make the icing smooth, heat it up in the microwave at fifteen second intervals until it is fluid.

5. Pour the icing over the cake. Pipe colored icing onto the cake to make the eyes, hair, mouth, and other clown decorations. Use flattened gumdrops to make a hat. Line animal crackers around the sides of the cake as a funny collar.

6. The extra pieces of cake can be shaped with cookie cutters in animal shapes and decorated to look like circus animals.
