Make a Picture Frame

Every year our children have their pictures taken at school. Every year they want to make sure that everyone they know has a copy of that picture. Have you seen those pictures after they have been in a wallet? How about allowing your child to make a picture frame that can hold their picture in tact for years to come? Here is how they can do that.

What You’ll Need

* 9 popsicle sticks
* glue
* markers
* crayons
* glitter

Instructions

First, they will need to glue the sticks together. This can be done by taking 1 stick and applying glue to one side. Be sure to leave enough area in the middle of the stick so you can place the picture in the frame. Take another stick and place that on the glue side of stick one. Repeat this step for the bottom and sides of the frame.

Next they will need to glue all the sticks together. They will place glue on the corners of all 4 sets of sticks. Press the corners together to complete the frame. The top and bottom sticks need to be glued to the back of the side sticks as well.

The next step is for you as the adult or older children. Use a sharp knife and make an incision into the back of the top set of sticks. This incision needs to be long enough to place the last popsicle stick into at an angle so the frame can stand up.

Let your child decorate the frame anyway they like. When they have finished decorating and it has completely dried, they can insert their picture from the top of the frame. Their picture will now stay as fresh as the day the put it in the frame.
