> Christmas Activities Make Christmas Cookies for GivingChildren love to bake cookies, especially when they can shape them and decorate them as they wish. This activity lets them do the baking and giving. Let your child make a list of people he or she would like to bake cookies as a gift for. Don't forget to make an extra batch or two to take to the soup kitchens, nursing homes, etc.
Make enough sugar cookies to cover everyone on their list. Let your child help as much as age appropriate with the baking. Let your child mix and roll the dough out and then cut the cookies into Christmas shapes such as bell, ornaments, angels, stars, Christmas trees, wreaths, etc. Once the cookies have been baked and cooled, allow your child to decorate the cookies with icing, sprinkles, candy, anything they like. Once the cookies are ready, take previously purchased tins or baskets and allow your son or daughter to put together gift baskets for friends, family, neighbors, teachers...anyone they would like to give to. Once the baskets and tins have been assembled, take your child to hand deliver them. The feeling they will get when they deliver their homemade goodies will be priceless. |
