Memorial Day Games & Activities

Memorial Day is for remembering those who have fought and died as well as those who are still fighting for our freedom. Be sure to remember all of them by flying the flag at half staff and saying a prayer that those currently fighting for our coutnry return home safely.

If you plan to have a get together for the holiday, here are some great game and activity ideas to enjoy with friends and family.

How to Play

* Play touch or flag football with your guests.
* Have the kiddos make their own kite or buy premade ones from the local dollar store. If you can find ones in the shape of an American flag that would be really fitting and imagine the site from the sky if you had a bunch of red, white and blue kites soaring above your yard.
* Take the gang to the local baseball diamond and play a game of the all-American sport. Top the game off with another American favorite, apple pie.
* Have a relay race. If you have a large group you can split it up by age groups or boys against girls, however you like.
* Pull out the Monopoly or Trivial Pursuit board game and have a round.
* Play charades.
* Play musical chairs to Yankee Doodle Dandy or other patriotic music.
* Play word games, such as naming a state for every letter of the alphabet.
* Pin the tail on the donkey is a great game for the day. You can even change it up and play pin the tail on the pony in rememberence of Yankee Doodle Dandy riding the pony.
* Play some favorite patriotic music and sing along karokee style.
* Attend a Memorial Day parade to show your support.
* Visit someone who has lost a love one to war and show them how much you care, by even just being there for them on this day.
