Memorial Day Party Must Do's

Memorial Day is a day to honor all of the men and women who are fighting wars across the world as well as those who lost their lives for our freedom in past wars.

What You’ll Need

*The first thing you need to do on the morning of Memorial Day is to hang your American flag at half mast.

*Buy special invitations for the occasion, such as ones with a picture of a soldier or the flag or even just red, white and blue color schemes on them.

*Invite all your family and friends over for a barbeque.

*If your town has an annual Memorial Day parade, why not kick the party off by having everyone meet at the same place to watch the parade?

*Ask each of your friends and family to bring a special dish that goes with the red, white and blue theme. Also, request they show their appreciation by wearing those colors to the party.

*Set your table with a red, white and blue or star designed tablecloth. Pick up red, white and blue napkins, plates, cups and silverware. Use red, white and blue candles as centerpieces for the tables and tie colored streamers and balloons to fences, decks, tables and chairs.

*Play music for the special day such as a John Philip Sousa CD and "God Bless the USA" by Lee Greenwood.

*Bake a white cake and decorate it with red, white and blue icing. Stick a small paper flag in the middle. Better yet, go online and find a cake recipe that shows you how to decorate the cake to look like a flag or a soldier.

*If own a keyboard, pull it out and have a sing along to patriotic songs such as Yankee Doodle Dandy and God Bless America and any others you can think of.

*Before all of your guests retire for the night, everyone join hands in a circle and say a prayer for all of our men and women who so unselfishly put their lives on the line for our freedom.
