> Summer Ideas Activities Metal Washer Wind ChimeFun wind chime made from things from around the house and the garage! What You’ll Needpaper platesilver paint and paintbrush or aluminum foil metal washers paper punch nylon string scissors Instructions1. Cut out a small circle from the paper plate to make a ring. Paint the ring silver or cover it with aluminum foil. If using paint, let the ring dry completely. Punch holes all along the ring about 1 inch apart.2. Cut the nylon string into the desired length, at least 6 inches. Tie one end of the string around a washer and the other end to a hole on the ring. If you have many washers, you can tie more than one along the length of each string. 3. Cut 2 pieces of string at least 12 inches long. Tie across the ring, forming a cross. Tie another piece of string in the center, where the 2 pieces of string intersect, to make a hanger. 4. Hang beside an open window. If you have a lot of washers in your supplies try using lots of varying sizes. They may not sound different when the wind blows them together, but they will look different and add to the charm. This is a great project to make for Dad to hang at the entry of the garage! It could even be used as a make-shift doorbell - hang it where everyone can reach it and when entering the garage lightly tap or nudge it so the washers will chime together. Then people will know when you are coming into the garage! |
