Making Military Care PackagesMany of our children have heard about our military and how they are far away without their families around. Children naturally want to help. Showing your child they can help by sending a care package to someone is a great way to ease their minds.
Unless you know someone who has been deployed overseas it can be hard to find them. There are a couple of ways your child can do this. There are many sites on the Internet they can search or call your local chapter of the Red Cross. They have a list of military personnel and their addresses. They also can inform them of what is needed, how to box it to send and all the rules your child needs to follow to make sure the care package is received. Next, take your child on a shopping spree. Make sure they stick to the necessities but also allow them to pick something that is special just from them. Be sure your child packs their care package carefully. Things need to be tight in the package so they don’t move around and possibly break or crumble. Also, be sure your child puts a note or card into the box. This way the military person who receives it knows who it came from. Be sure your child addresses the box correctly and help them to make sure the amount of postage is correct. If you follow these few rules your child’s package will be received and thoroughly enjoyed by our men and women far from home. |
