Mother's Day Storage Box

Transform a shoe box into a beautiful Mother's Day gift! This is a wonderful idea for a gift for your mom on Mother's Day! It is a very pretty, handmade special box. Your mom can use it for a jewelry box. Or she could even use it to keep the special things you give her. It is even big enough that she could keep books in it. And you know how moms like to have extra greetings card on hand - she could keep those in it! There are just a lot of things she could use it for, since it is such a good size!

Mother's Day Special Box Materials

Shoe box with lid
Plastic blister pack (save it from a package of batteries or other product when you open it)
Pencil
Scissors
Plastic or fabric flowers
Cardboard or cereal box
Tape
Paint
Paintbrushes
Colored and/or patterned paper
Glue
Felt sheet in desired color
Lace, ribbons, rick rack and other trimmings

Now let's get to work and make Mom happy!

1. With the pencil, trace the top of the plastic blister pack in the middle of the shoe box lid. Now cut that traced shape out.

2. Paint the shoe box and the lid in the color you have picked for your mom. Let the paint dry thoroughly. Or if you would rather, you could cover the box and the lid with colored or patterned paper. You could use solid paper on one part and a coordinating patterned paper on the other part. If you use paper instead of paint, you will need remember to cut out the hole on the lid again.

3. Push the blister pack through the hole on the lid so that it is sticking out. Tape the edges of the blister pack underneath the lid.

4. Place the plastic or paper flowers in the blister pack so that they look nice from the outside. Cover the back of the blister pack with a piece of cardboard or cereal box. Cover up the cardboard or cereal box with either colored or patterned paper. Add trimmings around the edges of the lid.

5. Line the bottom of the shoebox with a felt sheet in a coordinating color.

6. Fill up the box with something special for Mom, like a couple of books by her favorite author. Or you could get her a few pairs of super cozy socks or some of her favorite candy. Even better - you could get her a combination of things and put them in the box!

7. Watch Mom cry when she sees the gorgeous and special box you've created for her!
