> Bubbles Activities My Own Bubble MachineFor Those Who Really Want to Experiment!
Age Level: Ages 4+ Number of students/children: 2-24 works fine with some extra adult help. Materials needed: • 16 oz clear plastic bottles with labels removed • Water • Dishwashing detergent – liquid • Food coloring Introduction: We have talked about bubbles, read stories about bubbles, sang our new Boca Beth bilingual song about bubbles and now we are going to make our very own “Bubble Machine.” Students will be able to use audio, visual, tactile, kinesthetic, fine motor and gross motor skills while constructing their own bubble making machine. 1. Give the children their own 16 oz. clear plastic bottle with the label removed and their name on the bottom with permanent marker. 2. Help the children fill the bottle halfway with water. 3. Now assist them with adding ¼ cup of the dishwashing liquid. 4. The children now choose which color they want to use in their bubble machine from the food coloring selections. Adult supervision may be required depending upon age group to add a few (three or so) drops of color into the bottle. 5. Screw the cap on tightly. Again – adult may need to check that the cap is on very tightly prior to next step. 6. Children can now shake their bottles being energetic and enjoy the results of their efforts as a bunch of bubbles will be made inside their very own bubble machine! Once the children have had a chance to enjoy their own bubble machine and their friends’ bubble machines it is time to put them on a shelf for safe keeping and continued bubble fun at a later time or to take home. Clean up should be fairly simple if the caps were screwed on tightly! |
