Newspaper Coaster for Dad

Your frugal ways will certainly impress your Father when he receives this clever coaster for Father's Day. He'll be wondering what you're up to when you hurry off to recycle his old newspaper! You are either being very helpful around the house, or you're up to something. Won't he be surprised when he finds out it's both. Your Father will thank you for helping recycle and for turning an old newspaper into a great gift.

What You’ll Need

old newspapers
scrap fabric
strong tape
scissors
fabric paint or marker (optional)

Instructions

1. Cut old newspapers into desired shape and size. (Be sure it's big enough for Dad's coffee mug.) Stack at least five newspaper pieces together to form a coaster.

2. Cut fabric in the same shape and size. You may want to write your Father's Day greeting on the fabric at this point, or your Dad's initials or whatever you want. Place the fabric on top and at the bottom of the stacked newspaper pieces.

3. Secure the fabric and newspaper sheets together by carefully taping all around the edges, making sure to catch the fabric and all newspaper sheets inside the tape.
