Norwegian Helmet

For the child who wants to be a Viking on Halloween! This helmet will be lots of fun to make. It can be worn as part of a Halloween costume and it can also be worn as part of role-playing in learning all about the Viking Age.

Viking Helmet Parts

Round plastic bowl, about the size of the child's head
Cardboard
Scissors
Tape
Paint
White glue
Plastic cup
Paintbrush

How To Make Your Viking (Norwegian) Helmet

1. Measure the plastic bowl. It should go on top of the child's head comfortably.

2. Cut a nose guard out of some cardboard or an old cereal box. You may also choose to make your helmet with an eyemask. Some of the Viking helmets seemed to have them and some of them did not. Tape or glue whatever guards you make to the helmet.

3. Mix equal amounts of paint and white glue in a plastic cup. Silver and/or gold would be good colors to use if you are going for an authentic look. Or you can make your helmet purple and green, if you want! It is yours, after all, and we think you can make it any color you want to!

4. Use the mixture to paint the helmet. Wait for that to dry and then wear your helmet like a true Viking Warrior/Explorer!
