Painted Flower Pots

Painted flower pots are a craft that have been around for years. They are so easy to do and kids love to make them to put all their important items in.

What You’ll Need

* Small terra cotta flower pots and dish
* Acrylic paints
* Paint brush

Instructions

Be sure that your child wipes the flower pot and dish with a soft cloth before beginning. This will ensure there are no dust particles or dirt on them that can cause a problem when they begin to paint.

Give them a variety of paint colors to use. The more colors they have the more creative they can be. Bright colors are always a good choice. This gives them a chance to express themselves and give their pot some excitement.

Be sure they have some water to clean the paint brush with after each color. It might be wise to give them a paint brush for each color. This way there’s not chance of getting the colors mixed together.

Let them use their imagination in their decorating. They may want to do flowers or a sunset. It might be their idea of beautiful is just adding different colors here and there. Whatever they choose will be just fine. It’s theirs and they should express themselves however they see fit. Also be sure they paint the dish.

Once they have finished painting they will have to set the pots up to dry. This may take overnight so prepare them that their pots may not be ready for use right away. Once the paint has dried they can use them however they wish. They may actually want to plant their own flower or plant in their pot. Others may decide it’s a nice place to put jewelry or even pens and pencils on their desk. It’s their so let them enjoy in whatever manner they would like while you enjoy just knowing they made it with their own two hands.
