Painted Rocks

If your child likes to collect rocks, take advantage of the collection and help them make painted rock paper weights.

What You’ll Need

Smooth rocks of various sizes
Water-based paints
Paint brushes or sponges
Magazines
Newspapers
Magic markers
White glue

Instructions

1. Wash each rock to get the dirt off of them. Wait for the rocks to completely dry.

2. Help your child paint the rock a solid color. Wait for the paint to dry.

3. Once the paint is dry, your child can paint something else on it or glue pictures cut out of a magazine to it.

4. Write a saying on the rock using a marker.

5. Mix glue and water and paint the mixture over the rock to act as a sealant for the painted rock paper weight!

This is a fun and easy project for little ones to do. Painting on a rock is simple and they will feel pride in creating something on their own.
