> Thanksgiving Activities Paper Bag Turkey CraftKeeping children occupied and giving them fun things to do on Thanksgiving helps them from becoming bored and feeling left out. Crafts can occupy a child’s time and keep them happy for hours on end. One craft children of all ages can do is making paper bag turkeys. They are fun to make and the children can decorate your house with their creations. For each turkey made you will need the following items. What You’ll Need* Brown lunch bag* Two large paper bags * Newspaper * Rubber band * Red balloon * Black marker InstructionsStart by making the turkey body. Cut a small hole in the front of the paper bag about 2 inches from the bottom. This hole doesn’t need to be very big. The neck of the turkey will slide through this hole so it just needs to be large enough for that. Fill the bag two thirds full of scrunched up newspaper. Close the open end with the rubber band. For the turkey’s head use the lunch bag and fill it about half full of scrunched up newspaper. Twist the open end of the bag from the newspaper out to form the turkey neck. Now slide the end of the neck into the turkey body through the hole in the front of the bag. Make the turkey face by using the black markers to make the eyes. Glue the flat red balloon onto the turkey for its gobbler. They can include a nose and a mouth if they would like using the black marker. To make the tail feather cut 4 large half-circles out of the second large paper bag. Glue them to the back of the turkey overlapping each one as it’s glued on. Now they have paper bag turkeys to decorate with. They can even give them to family members as they come in if they would like. It’s an easy craft that will keep them occupied and happy for hours on end. |
