Paper Fireworks

There may be several reasons why a family would not be able or willing to view or set off real fireworks, but that doesn't mean your child can't enjoy creating a brilliant "explosion" of color indoors. These fireworks are completely safe... and quiet!

What You’ll Need

construction paper
scissors
glue
tape
string

Instructions

1. Cut various shapes from bright-colored construction paper: circles, triangles, stars, rectangles, even teardrop shapes.

2. Lay the shapes on black or dark blue construction paper so that they look like fireworks. When you're happy with the arrangements, glue the pieces down.

3. Or, create fireworks that appear to be in mid-air: Arrange the shapes but glue or shape them to each other. Attach each explosion along a piece of string. Tie the string across the room.

You can also try making fireworks with smaller pieces of paper depending on how old your child is. Use various paper punches to punch out circles, squares and stars and glue those onto paper. You can punch out several of the shapes and lay them out how fireworks look, then glue together to look like a larger shape.
