Paper Plate Maracas

Kids of all ages love to make noise. It’s just a part of them. Here’s a cute little craft that’s easy to make and will give your toddler hours of fun and entertainment.

What You’ll Need

* 2 Paper plates
* Markers, crayons or colored pencils
* Stickers
* Staple gun and staples
* Tape
* A few dried beans

Instructions

Start out letting the kids decorate the plates. They can use the markers, crayons and colored pencils to draw pictures or write things with. The stickers will come in handy for decorations also.

Now you will need to help them staple the plates together. Leave an opening at the top to place the beans inside. Be sure to place some tape over the staples especially if there are any sharp ends sticking out. You might want to take a butter knife and bend the end in before taping.

Now let the kids place some beans into the paper plates. The amount they use is up to you. The more beans the more noise so if you don’t mind the noise let them go for it.

Once the beans are placed inside staple and tape the top. Be sure the staples are tight so none of the beans can escape. For toddlers this could be dangerous as they seem to believe they can put anything in their mouth especially things that look like food.

Turn on some music and let them go at it. The can shake those maracas for hours on end and have enjoyment from beginning to end. Maybe even let them have their own band or march around the house playing their own little music. Enjoy the sounds it’s not really as loud as the giggles it will bring out.
