> Summer Ideas Activities Paper Plate PuppetWhat You’ll Needpaper platepaints paintbrushes paper towel cardboard tube large wiggly eyes or colored paper markers scissors glue 2 paper fasteners large rubber band yarn or string Instructions1. Make your puppet's face on the paper plate. Paint it in the desired color. Let dry, then glue on large wiggly eyes. If you don't have wiggly eyes, add features using markers or shapes cut out from colored paper. Do not draw or paint a mouth! Glue into place.2. To make the puppet's mouth, push the 2 paper fasteners on either side of the puppet's face, right where the corners of the mouth should be. The fasteners should be wide enough apart so that the large rubber band can be hooked around them. 3. Cut the yarn or string about 6 inches longer than the paper towel cardboard tube. Tie one end around the bottom lip of the puppet. 4. Cut 2 slits on one end of the paper towel tube. Thread the yarn through the tube and push the puppet's chin through the slits. 5. To make the puppet talk, pull on the yarn, making his lips move. This craft can be done using the assembly style method - make several at a time so you can have several puppets to choose from when you want to put on a show! Create characters using different yarns, paint and fabric and make up stories to go along with each character. |
