Peanut Shell People

Even peanut shells can become works of art!

What You’ll Need

peanuts still in shell
white glue
twist ties
scissors
embroidery floss
markers

Instructions

1. Open the peanut shell carefully so you don't crush them. Set aside the peanuts to be eaten later.

2. Place glue all along the open edges of both shell halves. Cut twist ties about 3 inches long to make arms and legs. Place 2 twist ties across half a peanut shell.

3. Make hair out of embroidery floss and place on top part of the peanut shell half. You could also use shorter pieces of twist ties for the hair.

4. Close the two peanut halves together, pressing well to attach them to each other. Let the glue dry.

5. Meanwhile, use markers to add eyes, a mouth and even clothes. Bend the arms and legs in the desired pose.

A set of these little peanut people could be made and thrown in with gifts to your friends. Make a few of them and make sure the glue is set and none of the decorations have fallen off. Get a small bowl or bag and fill it with peanuts, then add a few of the peanut people on top. Your friends will get a fun surprise as they are eating their snack!
