> 4th of July Activities Plan a Fourth of July Party for the KidsThe Fourth of July is a big day for everyone. With the backyard cookouts, family and friends and the big fireworks display at the end of the day sometimes our children can feel left out with all the grown ups rushing around trying to get things done. Why not let them have a party of their own? Here are a few tips to help. What You’ll NeedSend out invitations. You can buy them or better yet let your children make them. They can color an American Flag on the front of the invitation. Then inside be sure to put the type of party, time, location and RSVP name and number.Food is important at your child’s party. Have plenty to drink like lemonade and even red and blue kool aide. Be sure to have a few snacks for the kids to munch on during the party. Serve hot dogs, chips and that special 4th of July cake for desert. Be sure to have plenty of games for your children and their friends to play. Let them run through a sprinkler, play pin the star on the flag, musical chairs with patriotic music, have a pie eating contest and don’t forget those 4th of July piñatas. Tell the story of the Fourth of July and why we celebrate it. Children can be like some adults and look at it as just another holiday. Explaining to your children and their friends what this holiday is about and why we celebrate will help them to understand the significance of the holiday. What a learning experience for them. And don’t forget to have a mini fireworks display to end their day. How exciting for your children, their friends and you. |
