> Garden Activities Plant GiftHere's a gift that will remind the recipient of you every day for a long time to come! What You’ll Needwire clothes hangerribbon plant pot masking tape potting soil nasturtium seeds construction paper markers paints paintbrushes Instructions1. Shape the wire hanger into a circular shape. Cut the ribbon so you will have extra at the end then wrap the circle with it. Tie a bow when the 2 ends of the ribbon meet.2. Turn the hanger upside down so that the hook is facing down. Place the hook inside the pot and tape it down. The tape will be covered with potting soil, so a lot of tape doesn’t need to be used since the soil will help to hold the clothes hanger up. Fill the pot with potting soil. Plant about 4 seeds in the pot, each around 1/2 inch deep. Water lightly. 3. Make a tag by cutting a shape out of the construction paper. On one side, write your greeting. On the other side, write the following care instructions: "Please water me gently every day until I sprout. Twist my branches gently around the wreath as I grow." Attach the tag to the plant with a ribbon. 4. If desired, decorate the pot with paints and markers. This plant project would make a great gift during any occasion – for Mother’s Day, Christmas or a birthday. The ribbon could be made to match the holiday so the receiver will remember when it was given to them. Don’t forget to decorate the pot! The pot can be wrapped in paper like Christmas wrap or scrapbook paper or even painted. Give this plant to your child’s Grandparent and have the kids put handprints all over it. Be creative in your decoration! |
