Plastic Bottle Desk Organizer

It's always nice to find a real use for those plastic bottles you've been throwing in the recycling. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! And if your child is old enough for homework you'll appreciate this simple little craft. We all need help getting organized when we have work to do. Won't it be nice to have an attractive and functional pencil and pen holder at your child's homework table?

What You’ll Need

clean used plastic bottle, such as a soda or water bottle, any size
sturdy tape like duct tape
scrap fabric and fabric glue
patterned or construction paper
scissors
glue
rick rack, lace, ribbons, and other decorative materials

Instructions

1. Cut the top off the plastic bottle. Apply tape on the raw edge.

2. Cover the plastic container with scrap fabric. Secure the fabric with fabric glue. If you don't have scrap fabric, you can cover the container with patterned or construction paper, or even gift wrapping paper or self-adhesive paper.

3. If desired, decorate the desk organizer with rick rack, lace, ribbons and other decorative materials.

Use this on your desk to keep pens, pencils and other knick-knacks organized. Or look around the kitchen and see if there isn't something that would be better organized in this pretty little container.
