> Thanksgiving Activities Play Touch FootballWhy not start a new family tradition after Thanksgiving dinner this year and play a game of touch football? Not only is it good for you because you’re working off some of those calories and building a healthy heart and body, but it’s also a time that your family can spend together.
Gather all the family together and head out the door. Be sure that all obstacles that can cause harm are out of the way. This includes lawn furniture, toys, limbs and anything that may be a danger if tripped over or fallen on. Next choose teams. Be sure to make this fair. Don’t put all the woman and small children on one team and all the men and teenagers on another. (Unless of course the men and teenagers are up to the challenge) ;) Choose a captain for each team and let them pick their players. Children make great captains. They have no hidden agenda and will make sure everyone is picked and no one is left out. Next, it’s time to name your teams. You could have the turkey team or the gravy team. How about the pumpkin pie team? Whatever names you come up with make it fun and different. Remember this isn’t your everyday touch football game; it’s a Thanksgiving touch football game so make it fun and interesting. Next you’ll want to set your boundaries and goal lines. Nobody wants to win because the rules weren’t set before play began. This will also help to keep the game moving along. Without rules from the get go anybody can make up anything and then the fight is on. So make those guidelines from the start and no one will be any worse for wear. Also decide on how long you want to play or what score you will be going too. This will keep the game in perspective and everyone can back to clean up, before it’s time to start all over again. Last but not least have fun. Remember the name of the game is touch football so no head banging or body slamming. Should you decide to make this a yearly family game you can even make trophies so the winner can carry on until next year! |
