Pressed Flower Artwork

Pressing flowers is a fun way to learn about nature and also a great way to make some beautiful artwork. You can make several different things with pressed flowers, such as framed pictures, book covers, bookmarks, and more!

Pressed Flower Artwork Materials

Flowers
Leaves
Old newspapers
Heavy books
Construction paper
Glue

Create Pressed Flower Artwork

1. Lay the flowers and leaves on a sheet of old newspaper. If the flowers are thick, remove the petals and press the petals only. Do not overlap the flowers/petals and leaves.

2. Place another old newspaper on top of the flowers/petals and leaves. Put heavy books on top of the newspapers. Leave the flowers and leaves alone for a couple of weeks. The longer you can wait, the better.

3. After at least 2 weeks, remove the books and newspaper. Pick a sheet of construction paper. Arrange the pressed flowers, petals and leaves on the construction paper. When you're happy with the arrangement, glue the flowers, petals and leaves onto the paper.

4. If desired, you can frame the pressed flowers and display them on a wall. Or use the art work as a card or book cover, wrapping it with a clear plastic sheet.
