Pumpkin Face Popcorn Balls

Popcorn balls have long been a delight for children especially at Halloween. At your children’s Halloween party this year why not make those delicious treats but with a flare. Kids will love seeing the different pumpkin faces on their yummies and you’ll be a hit with the neighborhood kids.

What You’ll Need

* 1/2 cup honey
* 1/4 cup sugar
* 1 tablespoon butter
* 1/2 tsp cinnamon
* 5 cups popped popcorn
* Red, green and black decorating gel
* Candy Corn

Directions

Microwave popcorn. You can use the no salt type if you would like but some prefer to use the salted popcorn to get that salty/sweet taste. Next place honey, sugar and 1 tablespoon of butter in a microwave safe bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and microwave on high for about 6 minutes. Stir once in while if necessary to make sure butter incorporates with the honey and sugar. Pour honey mixture over the popcorn. Stir well making sure all the popcorn is covered. Once the popcorn mixture is cool enough to touch with your hands you can make the balls. Butter your hands to make sure the sticky popcorn doesn’t stick to you. Shape popcorn into different size balls. Place the balls on waxed paper.

Now the fun part. Using the red, green and black decorating gel decorate your popcorn balls. You can make different types of faces on each one. This gives the kids a choice in which pumpkin they want to eat. Use the green gel to make the stem of the pumpkin. Place the candy corn around the top of the popcorn ball to make it look like a lid and around the bottom for more decoration.

Your children will be pleased to see the pumpkins setting on their food table. They will be even more pleased when they taste just how good those pumpkins are.
