Reading Green Eggs and Ham

If you’re looking for something fun to do on St. Patrick’s Day why not visit Dr. Seuss. Green Eggs and Ham is a book that has been around for years. Kids of all ages, including adults, love this book. It’s a classic to be read over and over again.
If you have younger children who can’t read, be sure to sit where they can see all the pictures are you read through the book. Not only will this help them to visualize what you’re reading but it will help to put in prospective a book that can sometimes be a little hard to grasp.

If you have children old enough to read pass the book around for each child to read a page or two. You’ll find a lot of laughter coming from all the children and yourself included as you try to read the rhyming words and make sense of this classic tale.

After you have finished reading the book try making some green eggs and ham. It’s pretty easy. Place your eggs in a bowl with a little green food coloring. You will all watch the eggs turn green as you beat them together. The kids will get a kick out this that’s for sure. Scramble your eggs and fry a piece of ham. Better yet scramble the eggs and add ham chunks in them. What a great meal for all to enjoy as you read the book one more time.

Just remember it’s all about having fun and enjoying some reading while celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. The kids may decide they don’t like green eggs and ham but I bet they’ll want to read the book over and over again and enjoy the story each and every time.
