How to Make a Remote Control Holder for Dad

Father’s Day or Dad’s Birthday can be a very difficult time for children to figure out just the right gift. Children love to make presents and of course Dad is always losing the remote. Why not help your children design the perfect remote control holder for Dad? Here's how...

What You’ll Need

* thick sturdy box
* stickers
* glue stick/glue brush
* glow in the dark markers
* old magazine pictures

Instructions

Your child will need to start with a thick sturdy box. The cardboard needs to be thick so it is easier to put together and will hold up to all the use of placing the remote in and out of it.

Place the remote on one side of the box and cut a piece that is about 2 inches wider on both sides and at the top of the remote.

You will also need 2 pieces of the box for the sides. They should be about an inch wider than the remote and 2 inches higher than the remote.

The next piece will go on the front of the holder. It needs to be 2 inches wider only going 3/4 of the way up the front of the remote. The last piece of cardboard will be for the bottom of the holder and should also be 1 inch longer and wider than the remote.

Now let your kids decorate the cardboard pieces. They can use stickers, glue on a picture and color the holder. When coloring the holder, let them use glow in the dark markers so Dad can find it in the dark.

Once the decorations are dry and won't come off while working with the cardboard your children can glue the pieces together. They can use glue that contains a brush or a glue stick. It will be easier to put the glue directly on the edge of the cardboard.

Once the glue has dried they can place the remote in the holder and place it next to Dad’s chair. When he goes to look for that remote it will be right at his fingertips.
