Setting Goals Together

There is only one thing that is better than being a family. That’s being a family together. It takes everyone working together to build a happy and healthy family. Setting goals together is one way to achieve this.

Start by sitting down as a family and talking about all the things you might like to accomplish over the next year. Maybe your goal is to be nicer to each other by using please and thank you when you communicate. It could be that your goal is to have a family weekend each month or maybe take that great family vacation you’ve always talked about but never did. Whatever goals you choose start by making the decisions together.

Have everyone including toddlers and preschoolers make a list of the things they would like to do as a family. Go over the lists together. Choose the things that will work for everyone. The goals need to be achievable with everyone’s help.

If you decide it’s a family night once a month or a weekend get-a-way have everyone choose ideas of how or where to accomplish this. Maybe start a fund to pay for the items you will need to have for your gathering. A goal can be set where everyone contributes to the fund once a week. Even if it’s just a penny or two at least you are all working on the same goal.

There are many goals that family’s can set together. No matter what these goals might be make sure they are goals that can be reached and that everyone has a way of participating in making the goal an accomplishment. Remember family’s that play together stay together and that’s what it’s all about.
