> Clothes Activities Silk scarf decoratingBeautiful and inexpensive silk scarves can be purchased online or at
your local craft store and decorated to make it extra special and extra beautiful for your princess guest. 1. Make sure your table is covered with newspaper or plastic tablecloth for protection. 2. Have a piece of cardboard or other stable surface for each girl at her spot at the table. 3. Make sure when they are drawing or stamping on the scarves that they do it on the cardboard surface. The ink will bleed through the scarves and the cardboard will help to absorb the excess ink. 4. Fabric makers, paints and rubber stamps with fabric ink pads will all work great on these scarves. Remember that if the girls decide to write words, etc., on their scarves that the image will be backwards on the other side of the scarf. 5. For rubber stamping, ink up each rubber stamp with the fabric ink pad and stamp directly onto the silk scarf. Do not rock the stamp but hold for about 5 seconds. Remove the stamp straight up to avoid streaking. Reink the stamp with each additional image and clean the stamps well if you are using several colors. 6. A fun idea is the girls each sign each others' scarves as a special momento of the party. 7. Leave the scarves to dry or to speed the process, spin on gentle cycle in a warm clothes dryer to speed the process. 8. Decorated scarves make great gifts too! |
