> Space Activities Space JarHere's a variation of a snow globe that will transport you into outer space! What You’ll Needclear jar with lid, such as an empty baby food jarcorn syrup blue food coloring aluminum foil star-shaped paper punch scissors strong tape, such as packing tape blue or silver ribbon Optional: star-shaped confetti Instructions1. Clean and dry the empty jar. Fill almost to the top with corn syrup. Put a few drops of food coloring. Shake to mix thoroughly.2. Make stars by punching out star shapes from the aluminum foil. If you don't have a star-shaped paper puncher, cut out small star shapes from the foil. Or, use star-shaped confetti. 3. Drop the stars into the corn syrup. Add a little water to fill the jar. Close the lid tightly. Tape the lid securely with strong tape. Cover the lid with more aluminum foil. Finally, tie a blue or silver ribbon around the lid. 4. Shake the jar to make the stars float and pretend that you're in outer space! Since you are creating this space snow globe with a baby food jar, you can make several at once. Once you have your supplies gathered it is easy to make them assembly style - after washing and drying the jars, add corn syrup to all of them, then at the rest of the craft supplies. This would make a great craft for someone studying space. It is easily put together and if your child is old enough, they would need little help doing so. |
