Special Valentine Stories

Kids love to hear stories. If they are about Mom and Dad or grandparents it’s even more fun. It brings the story to life. Start a tradition each Valentine’s Day of telling stories about how love began in the family.

It doesn’t have to be really mushy and it doesn’t have to take extra time. You might all be together for breakfast. Mom and Dad can tell the story of how they met. Maybe it’s time to let the kids in on the secret of how Dad proposed. Even the little ups and downs you had while dating can be fascinating to the children in your life.

If you are having grandparents over for dinner ask them to tell the story of their love to the kids. How great to hear how they fell in love and the trials and tribulations they had to conqueror to be together. Maybe they would like to tell the story of when you were born. What better love stories than one about parents bringing their child home for the first time.

Even let your children tell some stories. What child hasn’t fallen head over heels for their first dog? Maybe it’s a book or a fish they just can’t live without. There’s always a story somewhere when it comes to a child.

Telling stories of love can be fun and exciting. It brings back memories long left on the shelf. Everyone enjoys hearing how their family came to be and all the joys and upsets that were along the way. Making a lifetime of memories and then sharing them is one way to spend Valentine’s Day together.
