Head Out on a Spring Break Road Trip

Nobody says a Spring break trip has to entail going to one destination and staying the entire week. Road trips can be fun and educational. Plus they can help to ensure that everyone in the family gets to go to the place they choose as their favorite.

There are so many things you can do on road trips. Maybe your teenage daughter would like to visit a large mall that is a couple hours away. Could be you have a teenage son who wants to go see a baseball game. The ideas are endless when it comes to taking road trips. Even the young children can to the go places they like. For instance they may have been bugging you to no end about chicken nuggets. Give in and take them McDonald’s one day. It won’t hurt them to have one Happy Meal a year.

Talk to the kids and see what interests them. Get out the map and plan your route. It might take a couple of hours to get there but it could also be some place just up the road that they have always wanted to see but you just haven’t had the time to go. Try to plan one route there and a different route back. This will put some adventure into the road trip and give you all a chance to see things you might not get to see otherwise.

Another great idea when it comes to road trips and can put a little surprise in the trip is to just get in the car and go. No special destination in mind. You can make it a game. Have one child tell you whether to go north, south, east or west. Have another child determine the amount of miles you will drive before stopping. Of course you may have to put some limits on those miles but give them a round about number to go with.

On the way let them pick places to stop. It might be a restaurant or a store. It could even be a museum or a park they see. Whatever it is let them choose and make it a fun game that everyone can enjoy.

Taking road trips can open up a world of possibilities. It’s the chance to see things you might not otherwise see on a planned trip. It can be educational and fun for everyone. Take a chance and go on a road trip. It might be the trip that is talked about by your family for years to come.
