Looking for something fun to do with the kids for St. Patrick’s Day? Why not make a shamrock collage. It’s pretty simple and it’s a fun way to help decorate your house when it’s completed. Here’s what is needed.

What You’ll Need

* White poster board
* Scissors
* Glue
* Glitter
* Green paint
* Paint brushes
* Green and white ribbon

Instructions

Start with the poster board and cut 3 heart shapes out for each child. You will also want a stem that is easily cut out of the poster board. It you would like the children to cut their own out find a heart shaped stencil. Have them trace around the hearts and then cut out the shapes. The same can be done for the stem.

Once they have them cut let them go to town painting them green. Paint brushes are easy for children to handle. Use a paint that is washable and you should have no problem cleaning everything up when they are finished.

While the paint is drying have each child cut out a piece of white poster board to lay their shamrock on. You can determine the size and this will help keep everyone together and the promise that you won’t have a wall hanging the size of your couch when they are finished.

When the paint is dry they will need to attach the hearts on the poster board to resemble a shamrock. It’s pretty easy to do. Place all the heart points together and glue them on the board. Add the stem on the bottom and you have your shamrock.

Now let the kids have a great time decorating them. They can use the glitter, the ribbon and any other craft item you may think of to decorate with. The sky is the limit. Have a contest to see who can come up with the most unique shamrock collage.
