> St. Patrick's Day Activities
St. Patty's Day Scavenger HuntThis is a scavenger hunt that is conducted throughout your neighborhood. You’ll need to split the children up in equal groups and have at least one adult per group. Ideally, this activity is geared towards children of school age or older. You’ll also need to ask your neighbors if they would be willing to participate in this activity, as the children will be going door to door looking for items on their lists. Gather a list of addresses for those who play along and make sure that each adult leader has a copy of it.
Prior to the hunt, type or write up a list for each group of items that relate to St. Patrick’s Day that they will need to find throughout the neighborhood. Here are just a few ideas you may want to include on the list. * Shamrock * Horseshoe * Green candle * Green cup * Green button * Green sock * Green Ribbon Have each group take their list and go door to door asking the neighbors if they have any of the items on the list. Make sure each parent writes down on their list where they received each item so that all items can be returned to their owners at the end of the game. Depending on the age of the children, the size of your list, and the number of neighbors who participate, this game can take a lot of time and energy so try to make the prize worth it. You can give our prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. For example, each child in the 1st place group receives $1, 2nd place gets $.75 per child, and so on. Just use your judgment based on the number of children/groups, etc. |
