Stopping Childhood Obesity

We as parents are responsible for teaching our children how to be healthy. We buy their food and control their portions. We also can control the amount of time they sit in front of the television. Here are some tips on how to prevent your children from becoming obese.
First, have your children start out with a healthy breakfast. Do not buy all those sugary cereals for your kids. Buy them nutritious cereals such as Total, Special K, Life, Multigrain Chex, ect. You can also give your children yogurt or fruit. These choices taste good and are so much better for them.

Next, provide healthy snacks. Instead of giving your children a bag of chips, give them some carrots, an apple, some pineapple, or other fruits and vegetables. If your child wants a cookie, give them a granola bar instead. It is all right for your children to eat junk food occasionally but make it a rarity.

You control what your child eats and how much. If you do not have junk food in your house, they have to choose something healthy to eat. Another thing to watch is your child's portions. Don't fix them large portions and decide whether or not they should have seconds.

Kids learn from watching you! If you do not eat healthy, your children are less likely to. You can't eat a box of cookies and expect your child to eat an apple.

Turn off the television and video games, and send your kids outside. When children are outside they play, run, climb, jump, ect. They might complain about it at first but when they go outside they will have fun.

Just remember parents it is up to you. You are the parents and make the decisions. It doesn't matter how much they beg for that candy bar, you are the one that decides whether or not to buy it.
