> Earth Day Activities Teach Your Child the Fun of RecyclingLots of younger children love to help organize. If you're child is one of them, teaching him or her to recycle will be not only easy, but fun as well. Here are some ways to help teach your children the importance of recycling.
- Depending on the age of your child, you can find books to fit their age group that explain recycling and why it's important. Books range from picture to read aloud books for younger children to more detailed books for older kids. - Purchase bins to separate items such as newspapers, plastic bottles, etc. and set them in a place that gives your child easy access to them so that they can place items in the appropriate bin once they are finished with them. - Have your child think of ways to re-use items. For instance plastic juice bottles can easily be reused as water jugs, plant containers, and more. Give them a few ideas and then let them show their own creativity by thinking of other items that can be used over and over again. - Use recyclable bags when you go shopping. If you take the bags with you, have your child be in charge of putting the bags away after each trip and getting them together when it's time to go shopping again. - Take your children to a recycling center nearby and let them see the process your things go through once you drop them off. |
