Teach Your Child to CookDo you remember as a child how safe and comfortable you felt in the kitchen with Mom? Children today don’t spend that much time in the kitchen let alone with Mom so why not take the time to bring your children into your world? Teach them to cook.
Start by picking easy to do recipes. Desserts are always fun to make and there are so many easy dessert recipes to choose from. Allow your child to gather all the ingredients and utensils needed. This will help them to learn where things are kept in the kitchen and teach them what unfamiliar ingredients are. Let them do all the measuring, mixing and cooking. Be sure to stay right with them while they do this to insure a good turn out and a safe environment. Also allow them to taste test their food. This will give them an idea of how different foods taste before and after they are completed. This will also give you some one on one time with your child. You can talk serious, be funny or just enjoy each other’s company. Being with your child alone doesn’t happen very often so make the most of it together. Be sure to eat at least a little of the food. Let your child know if it’s good, but also if it’s not just right. This will help them to learn how to take constructive criticism or how to handle a compliment. Before you know it you will have your own chef in the house. |
