> Thanksgiving Activities Thanksgiving HarvestThis Thanksgiving, take your children to a farm that will allow your children to pick out their own Thanksgiving produce. Your kids will appreciate the food they eat more if they pick it themselves. It is also a good learning experience for your children.
First, you will need to find a farm that allows you to pick your own vegetables and fruits right off the vine. A good place to look is in your local paper. Many places advertise in the newspaper this time of year. You may also ask friends and family if they know of any places. When choosing which place to go, find out what all they have to offer. Some places have hayrides, mazes and other activities for children as well. Once you have decided on the right farm for your trip, it is time to go. Teach your children how to tell when different vegetables and fruits are ripe. Then let them pick it out themselves. Show them the difference between carving pumpkins and pumpkins for baking. Teach your kids about the different varieties of apples, how they taste, and what they are used for. Finally, it is time to cook the produce you have bought. Allow your children to help you prepare the different dishes using the fruits and vegetables they have picked out. Enjoy your Thanksgiving Day feast. |
