Thanksgiving Memory GamePlaying games with children of all ages on Thanksgiving after the big meal is a way of helping children enjoy their day. Too often holidays don’t add up to their expectations and they become bored and frustrated. Here’s a game that can be fun and exciting and gives the brain a good workout. How to PlayYou start the game by saying today is Thanksgiving and I ate turkey. The next person picks up from there but they must say today is Thanksgiving and I ate turkey and then add to the food such as turkey and mashed potatoes. Each person in the game must add a food to the food chain. If a person cannot remember the whole saying or says it in the wrong order or even forgets any part of the story then they are eliminated from the game. The game continues around until only person is left. Some people will be so stuffed they may not want to think about the food they have just eaten which is ok. You can play this game using any type of Thanksgiving story. For instance, today is Thanksgiving and I am thankful for ______ or how about using Thanksgiving trivia facts. Whichever version of the game you play, be crazy and have fun. Let the children use their imaginations when playing. The may not have had chocolate cake but if they say they did it is okay, it’s just a fun story. Remember to keep children occupied and to try and keep your son’s nose off of football and into the family fun. If someone is being stubborn and doesn’t want to play ask them if they have any suggestions for a story to tell. Dad and the boys may want it to be about Thanksgiving football and that’s great as long as everyone is playing together and having a fun time. |
