> Valentine's Day Activities The Game of HeartsKids of all ages love to play games. For a Valentine’s party it is a must. One game that teenagers like to play at their parties is Hearts. It’s a fun card game that makes them think while having fun. Here’s how it’s played. How to PlayStart with a regular 52-card deck of cards. Deal the cards out one at time to each player upside down. If you have extra cards place them upside down in the middle. This is the kitty and the first person to take a trick also gets the kitty. This game is played in four rounds and the person with the least points at the end of the fourth round is the winner. Once the cards have been dealt out each player looks at their cards. They choose 3 cards from their hand and pass them to the player on the right. They cannot include cards that were given to them in this process. The second round the cards go to the left, the third round they go across the table and the fourth round players keep all their original cards. To start play the person with the two of clubs leads that card. Everyone must follow suite if they have any and if not they may play an off card. They cannot play a heart until hearts have been led. The person with the highest card wins the trick. The cards begin with Ace high and go down K, Q, J, 10 and so forth in points. When all the cards have been played you count the points. Anyone with a heart receives one point for each heart. The player with the queen of spades receives 50 points but the person who has the jack of diamonds is allowed to take 10 points away from their score. Play continues for four rounds. The person with the lowest score wins the game. It is a pretty easy game for children to play and teenagers especially like it. The next Valentine’s party you have for your children try a game of hearts. It’s the perfect game for the day. |
