Valentine’s Day is a special day set out to show the people you care about just how you feel. Children can learn a very important lesson on Valentine’s Day about the different types of love that we as adults all come to know. For children Valentine’s Day means the love of a parent or grandparent, the caring of a sibling or the heart felt feelings of a friendship.

Teaching children that love is more than romance between a man and woman can start them on a track of understanding the significance of having friendships, a bond between siblings and the care of nurturing between parents and children.

For children they need to know that the holiday is more than candy and parties. It’s the feelings we all have inside. The one feeling that helps us to remember why someone means so much to us. It starts them on realizing that giving is not just in gifts but also straight from the heart. It shows them that you can care about people and not have to be romantically involved.

Giving your children the gift of love by teaching them about love and how it works for everyone is a way to help make Valentine’s Day special. They will learn from you and will grow to be caring people to everyone they hold near and dear to their hearts.
