Give your preschool child a head start for school.

The Memory game is a game that can be played at any party. Not only can it be adapted to fit your child’s theme but it can be played inside. This makes the memory game an easy game to have in waiting just in case your outside party is dampened by bad weather.

How to Play

Many stores carry the memory game in themes that are of current ideas. If your child’s theme party is based around a current movie then you may be able to find the game with that theme at your local department store or dollar store.

In case your child’s party theme is something different or you can’t find a Memory game with that theme there’s a way to make the game yourself without too much trouble or expense.

You can use heavy construction paper or poster board. Cut out card size pieces to make up the 26 memory cards. If you can only find the lightweight construction paper you can use cardboard and attach the construction paper to it with glue.

Once you have the cards cut out then you have a couple of options on making the face of the card. If you are an artist go ahead and draw your pictures. Remember you must have 2 of each item. If you don’t think you want to draw the pictures then ask your children to draw them for you. Give them the ideas and some markers and let them have it.

One other option if no one want to be the family artist and draw the pictures is to go to your dollar store or hobby shop and purchase stickers that go along with your child’s party theme. Either way you can make these memory cards just as easy as you can go purchase them from a store.

Memory is a fun game and can also be a learning game for younger children. It’s a game that works well as a backup plan and can fit any theme your child may have in mind.
