Theme It Up With a Pumpkin Party

Kids love Halloween parties. Parents trying to figure out from year to year what to do at these parties can take a lot of the fun out of it. Why not have a Pumpkin theme party for your kids.

What You’ll Need

Start with their invitations. These can be pretty easy to make and inexpensive also. Take orange construction paper and cut out pumpkin shapes. Use green construction paper for the stem. Use black construction paper for the overlays. Then go online and find some Halloween clip art. You can find all kinds of great things to decorate your invitations with.

Now for the decorations, which are pumpkins of course. You can find all kinds of shapes, sizes, texture and colors of pumpkins. Carve and decorate your pumpkins into scary creatures, funny creatures or even just plain ole triangle eyes and nose pumpkins. Use construction paper and cut out pumpkins that you can hang from the ceiling or over windows and doors. With pumpkins you just can’t loose in the decorating department. Be sure your napkins, plates and cups all have pumpkins on them too.

For your trick or treats. Use pumpkin to make all your treats. You can make pumpkin cookies, pumpkin cupcakes and pumpkin punch. Well the punch won’t really taste like pumpkin but you can float candies in it. Even make a hollowed out pumpkin the punch bowl. The possibilities are endless when it comes to the food and pumpkins. Just don’t forget to give some of those pumpkin candies out to all the little ones.

Games are an essential part of any party. You can start by playing Pin the Face of the Pumpkin. It’s easy. Just make pumpkin faces out of construction paper. Cut out different shape eyes and noses. Blindfold your little ghosts and have them tape the eyes and nose on a pumpkin face.

You can give prizes to the funniest, the craziest and the one who comes closer to getting the parts in the right place. You can also play the word game. How many different words can they make out of the word Jack O Lantern. Don’t forget Bobbing for Pumpkins too (just be sure they are little pumpkins or they won’t fit in the bucket).

There are numerous ways to make a Pumpkin Party a great success. Try it out on your little goblins and see if they don’t have the time of their lives.
