They Can Eat This Paint

Toddlers love to make pictures and get messy. This craft will allow them to do both. Finger painting has been a joy for many children over the years. This type of finger painting gets them right in the middle of the action and if they stick their fingers in their mouth there’s no worry. It’s edible and doesn’t taste too bad either.

What You’ll Need

* Sweetened condensed milk
* Food coloring
* Dixie cups
* Sheets of paper

Instructions

Start out with a small amount of the milk in each Dixie cup. It’s better to use a small amount that way nothing is wasted. You can always add more if they want to continue painting.

Use as many Dixie cups as you want colors. When shopping for food coloring you will find that there more colors than just the basic ones we grew up with. You also don’t have to use them all at once. Do basic colors one time then pastels the next. This gives your little ones something to look forward to the next time.

Place as many drops of food coloring in the milk as you like. The more food coloring you use the brighter and deeper the color will be. Experiment if you like there’s a lot of food coloring and a lot of milk to play with.

Now set the kids down with the paper and let them go to town. Just dip their finger into the color and let them paint away. After a few times they will have it down pat and will make you some great pictures to hang on that refrigerator. Just one note, be sure to wash their hands quickly after they are through. The food coloring can discolor their hands and fingers if not washed off quickly.
