Wrap the each toilet paper tube with construction paper in the color appropriate for the character. 3. Glue the character's face on top of the corresponding toilet paper tube. Add arms by drawing them directly onto the tube. 4. Draw the details of the clothing using markers or colored pencils. 5. Take the toilet paper tube characters and put up a performance on a tabletop! An optional way to make the toilet paper tube characters is to expand everything you have put on them. 1. Choose a story and characters you want to act out. Print, photocopy or draw the faces and cut them out, setting them aside for later. 2. Wrap each toilet paper tube with a base color of construction paper you picked out for that character. It is the base color because you will build on it with other papers for more clothing. 3. Cut arms and legs out of construction paper and glue the pieces to the sides and bottom of the tube. 4. Using scrap fabric, scrapbook paper or other patterned paper (or more construction paper) cut out details for the clothing – collars, shirt, pants, etc. If you wanted to make a taller character, use a paper towel tube. All of these are easily stored in a shoebox! |
