> Easter Day Activities
Traditional Easter Morning Egg HuntAn annual family tradition in my house was an Easter morning egg hunt. Mom would select a dozen Easter eggs, which we had colored and decorated the day before, and hide them everywhere in our home.
As soon as my sister and I awoke, we would scurry around the house searching for the eggs. Whoever found the most eggs would win the game. I can still recall how excited we were when we found the first egg. As a child, searching for eggs was an adventure. Eggs were hidden under sofa pillows; behind knickknacks; in the kitchen; in mom and dad’s bedroom; on top of lamp shades; in bowls on the kitchen counter; inside socks placed conspicuously in our view; inside the stereo unit; and sometimes an egg would just be sitting on the TV in plain sight. Every year Mom would change her hiding places, and every year my sister and I would find all but one. We would look at Mom and her eyes would focus in one area. Aha....the last egg was found. Although no prizes were given, the satisfaction in winning was enough. Once all the eggs were finally located, the winner would gather all the eggs and place them in an Easter basket we made the day before. Why not start your own Easter egg hunt tradition in your home? The memories will last a lifetime. |
