This activity is not very easy to do, but it is very rewarding!

What You’ll Need

small dead tree
saw
sandpaper
old bucket
plaster of paris

Instructions

1. Find a small dead tree with several branches. Trim the branches to 5 inches to create pegs for clothes.

2. Sand down the pegs until they are very smooth.

3. Place the tree in an old bucket. Pour enough plaster of paris to keep the tree upright. Support the tree while the plaster of paris is drying up.

Tip: Before pouring the plaster of paris and putting the tree in the bucket, decorate the bucket to match the theme of the room it will be in! If you don't want to worry about the theme changing and thus the bucket not matching, paint it a neutral color.

Another option is to cover the bucket with paper which is easily changed depending on the theme or season! You could use Christmas wrap during the holidays, other holiday themed wrapping paper or scrapbook paper. If the tree is going in your child's room you could give them paper to decorate however they wish.

This project does take time since you need to cut and sand the tree, but in the end you will be happy with your project since it will go with the room decor and is something you can start using immediately.
