Tree From Summer to Fall

It takes many months for leaves to turn from green in the summer to orange in the fall. But with this "Magical" tree, it only takes a moment. And you can change them back again!

What You’ll Need

two paper plates
scissors or craft knife
markers
paints
paintbrushes
paper fastener

Instructions

1. Poke a hole in the center of both plates. From the upper half of one paper plate, use craft knife to cut out several jagged-shaped holes to form a rough tree-top shape. Below that, on the lower half, use markers and paint to draw the tree trunk, grass and sky, etc.

2. On the other paper plate: paint half of the plate green; paint the other half orange. Let dry completely. When dry, if you wish, use markers to draw leaf-like details on top of the colors.

3. Place the painted paper plate underneath the paper plate with the cut outs. Fasten the two paper plates to each other by placing a paper fastener in the center of both plates.

4. To make the tree change from summer to fall, turn the bottom plate. Watch the leaves turn from green to orange and back again!
