Twig Teepee Tent

This little tent or "teepee" is a natural for any family learning about Native American culture. Starting with building the teepee and moving on to reading about which Native American tribes lived in teepees and what materials were really used in the construction of their teepees. Build your teepee large enough to incorporate a doll family and the learning can continue for a good, long time.

What You’ll Need

about 5 or 6 twigs, fairly straight
string, yarn, or rubber band
scissors
glue (optional)
green leaves or fabric

Instructions

1. Collect twigs that are fairly straight. Cut or break them so they are all about the same size.

2. Bundle up the twigs into your hand. Tie one end with string, yarn or wrap rubber band around.

3. Carefully work the other end open so twigs form a tent, leaving a "front door".

4. Close in the tent by tucking leaves in or gluing on twigs all around, or by covering with fabric. Don't forget to leave a door.
